Footscray West Writers Festival opening night

I’m performing at the opening party for Footscray West Writers Festival this Friday alongside Maxine, Thabani and Emilie – yes all your faves!

Each writer is doing live collabs with other artists – Chris Ferric will be painting while I speak – I don’t know what the others are doing so it’ll be a surprise to me too. Actually at this point I haven’t even really decided what I’m doing. But the Orbweavers’ music was a highlight of last year’s festival for me so I’m really looking forward to that as well as hearing everyone read.

Voices Under Fire: Stories from Gaza

Join me at this event on 6 November to bear witness to the lives of Gazans experiencing genocide.

For one night, we’ll come together as a community to read the poetry and first-hand accounts of Palestinians who have had to flee their homeland, those who have been martyred, and those who are still surviving the daily nightmare. All ticket sales will go to families currently in Gaza to help them buy food, medicine and other necessities.

Wicked Words at Vic Pride Centre

Event promo image of a woman with long thick hair leaning over. A leather paddle is in the background.

I’m so excited for this one! A multigenerational line-up of storytellers surrounded by projected images of unapologetic dykes from the archives of Wicked Women (1988–96), an erotic zine published by Lisa Salmon and Jasper Laybutt. I’ll be reading my dirty Lex posts/poems, drinking up the queer gaze. Horny on main, we love it.

Wicked Words is a storytelling event that celebrates dyke and queer and trans sexuality. Gird your loins and prepare yourself to be swept off your feet. The lineup of storytellers includes Maude Davey, Jinghua Qian, Annaki Kisses, Tomoko Yamasaki, Gavril Aleksandrs, Bumpy Favell, and Lisa Salmon with videopoems by ReVerse Butcher.

Organised by Evelyn Araluen, Julieanne Lamond and Monique Rooney, the program features Melissa Lucashenko, Jackie Huggins, Jeanine Leane, Elizabeth Flynn, Natalie Harkin, and many more. Full program and registration here.

Smut | Footscray Community Arts Centre

I don’t know if anyone is ready for this, least of all me, but next Friday I’m making my fanfiction debut at Footscray Community Arts Centre as part of the Smut: Queer Erotic Fan Fiction Salon curated by Sissy Screens.

Here’s a sneak peek of my piece – can you guess who the primary pairing is? (Clue: It’s a crossover fic.)

A03 is legitimately one of my favourite publishers.

The event is part of Midsumma Festival and it also features Vidya Rajan, Nkechi Anele, Tali Polichtuk, Zoey Dawson, Alistair Baldwin, Ruby Slippers, Wilk Crate and Zoe Terakes. Auslan interpreted. It’s gunna be hot and nerdy!
